The issue of environmental protection is more and more important for consumers, being an important factor of their buyer decision-making processes. Therefore, in the Hungarian Code of Advertising Ethics, a distinct chapter is devoted to the topic of environmental protection represented in advertisements.
The legislators were guided by the aspects of environmental protection having created the strict rules on commercial communication on new automobiles. As a supplement of the decree, the SRO published a guide book for those administering the decree, which guide book can be found among the guidlines.
The claims regarding environmental protection appear in more and more frequently in advertisements. Special care must be taken to the issue of the reality and non-excessiveness (green washing) claims regarding environmental protection.
